We are currently seeking an Intermediate Field Services Technician with at least 3 years of experience to support our growing construction, materials testing, and field inspection services from our Edmonton office. This role is hands-on and field-based, working closely with our project managers, contractors, and clients to deliver accurate testing, inspections, and site documentation across a variety of civil and energy projects.

You will be part of a team that takes pride in being responsive, practical, and solutions-focused in the field. CAP field staff are known for stepping in where needed, supporting multiple disciplines, and representing the company professionally on site.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform field density testing, concrete sampling, asphalt testing, and other materials testing in accordance with applicable standards and project specifications.
  • Complete field inspections for earthworks, utilities, roadworks, and general civil construction.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely field notes, daily reports, and test records.
  • Coordinate with contractors and site supervisors to schedule testing and inspections.
  • Track and manage samples, including chain of custody and delivery to laboratories.
  • Support survey crews with layout, as-built data collection, and GPS work when required.
  • Communicate field results to project managers and clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and care for field equipment and vehicles.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and follow
  • CAP safety procedures at all times.
  • Represent CAP professionally on active
  • construction sites.

 

Qualifications 

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience in materials testing and construction inspection is considered an asset.
  • CCIL certification (or willingness to obtain) is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and out of town.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and on active construction sites.
