This Alberta Transportation project consisted of 14.6 km of base and paving on Highway 680:02 and 18.4 km of final stage paving on Highway 727:02. Reconstruction of Highway 680:02 was completed in 2013, and base and first stage paving of Highway 727:02 was completed in 2012, both under separate contracts.

Engineering Design
CAP completed the detailed design and tender package for this project. The design phase involved coordination for preliminary engineering, summarizing preliminary engineering data, and confirmation of surfacing requirements and quantity calculations. Design elements included subgrade preparation, granular base course, asphalt concrete pavement, signing, roadway lines and messages, milled rumble strips, and delineators.
We created surfacing schematics and typical cross sections for the tender. A design report was then created, which outlined all project details, calculations, and estimates. Following review and approval by Alberta Transportation, we developed a tender document with special provisions using standard templates. We also prepared “C” estimates based on historical average unit prices.
