The Johnson 281S Substation is a new 240-kV/138-kV switching station located west of Didsbury. This substation required 1.5 km of transmission line to connect it to an existing line.
The site preparation and grading work included building a 104 m x 128 m substation pad and two access roads off the existing TWP 314 road. The work required topsoil stripping, placing 300 mm of pit run, and laying 200 mm of road crush. Once the site was prepared, a transformer pad with oil containment system and 4 circuit breaker pads were constructed. Finally, the project required the installation of a substation fence and reclamation.
