Located in Whitehorse, Yukon, Whistle Bend is a seven-phase mixed residential, commercial, and institutional development that features wide green corridors throughout the community.

To accommodate increased traffic, the Yukon Government requested a detailed engineering design for a 1-km connector road to the new development. The road required a roundabout at the intersection of Mountainview Drive and Whistle Bend Way, and a trunk main to provide water service to the development. Contractors completed Phases 1 and 2 of the proposed subdivision in 2013. Construction is ongoing for the remaining phases.

Engineering Design

We provided complete project engineering services for this project, from the preliminary design phase through to construction. Our engineers designed the road surface and subgrade to accommodate both initial and full traffic volumes. The road will expand with the growth of the development.

We completed a comprehensive capacity analysis for various roundabout configurations and selected the most effective for detailed design. The chosen option was economical, yet maintained a low degree of saturation, minimal vehicle delay, and the highest overall level of service (LOS). Following detailed design, our team developed the required tender documents and assisted with contractor selection. During construction, CAP provided overall construction advisory services, including Construction Completion and Final Acceptance inspections.
