Fort McMurray and the surrounding oil sands area is experiencing substantial industrial growth and as a result the need for new and improved substations has become a major issue for most of the large projects taking place in the area.

The Mariana Lakes Load Freer Substation project was established as a necessity to match the increase in demand of electricity around the Fort McMurray area. The Freer Substation project involved the installation of one 144 kV circuit breaker, one 144/25 kV transformer and their associated equipment.

CAP’s role on this project was to provide project management, survey, inspection, and quality assurance/control services for the substation.
