CNRL Horizon Substation and Transmission Line Construction

As part of the expanded mining operations CNRL Horizon oil sands site, the entire power distribution grid within the CNRL site was required to the be relocated to allow for future exploration. To meet this need, a new switching substation and transmission lines were required.

The Construction Management scope of work consisted of supervision of the civil, structural, and electrical construction which included:

  • Removal and placement of 750,000m3 of native material for substation base layer
  • Placement of granular materials
  • Driven pipe pile foundations
  • Structural steel assembly and erection
  • Electrical equipment and cabling assembly/installation
