The project involves the upgrade and replacement of aging equipment and infrastructure. The substation was built in 1907 and has served the area for more than 100 years. While well maintained, some equipment, such as the transformers, switches and breakers are now nearing end of intended service life. The construction scope of work consisted of repairs and modifications to various substation components, including:

  • Installation of a high-capacity transformers and feeders
  • Modernizing the substation while also preserving historical components in the final design
  • Connecting the substation to the new networked system

  • Due to the age of the existing building, the substation is classified under the Historic Preservation Act

Our Role

Project Management

CAP is providing Quality Control and Supervisory oversight on behalf of the client.

Key functions include:

  • Liaison between EOR (Engineer of Record), Site Construction Manager and Client
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise on site and provide suggestions and solutions
  • Responsible for RFI (Request for Information) development, execution and RFI Log Maintenance
  • Develop and maintain Change Order Log as it pertains to RFI and Out of Scope items.
  • Weekly Billing and Change Order Finance meeting with Client regarding Approvals and Billing
  • Manage installation, coordination and testing of wire and cable to GIS breakers, LCC (Local Control Cabinets), VDC and AC Panels, ATSs (Automatic Transfer Switches), Primary and Secondary Relay Panels, SSTs (Station Services), Emergency Generator, Transformer and Reactor Mounting Panels, and Capacitor and Reactor Banks
  • Create, Maintain, Manage, and provide Megger Test sheets and Quality Turnover Packages to Client
  • Provide support to equipment installation and testing
